Abstract


The temporomandibular joint is the most complicated joint in the human body due to its three-dimensional spatial movements of rotation and translation. Therefore, it is difficult to accurately record mandibular movement, leading many researchers to develop methods to replicate jaw movement using an articulator. Ultrasound-based digitalized pantograph is an up-to date diagnostic instrument that allows analysis of mandible kinematics. Clinically, ultrasound-based pantograph can be used to determine centric relation, record jaw movements to make a precise prosthesis, and diagnose TMD. Despite these clinical applications, the reliability and significance of ultrasound-based pantograph such as ARCUSdigma has not been confirmed. In this study, we report the clinical application and significance of ultrasound-based pantograph.
